Claudia Freed – President

President and Executive Director, EALgreen

CFreed - CRG 2013 (1)Claudia is President & Executive Director of EALgreen, a non-profit organization that converts donated corporate inventory into college scholarships for needy students.  Claudia was the first student ever to receive an EAL Scholarship in 1982.  EAL and donors have helped more than 10,000 students attend college.   Claudia’s background is in corporate finance, business development, strategic planning and fundraising.  Her experience includes leading pro-bono consulting teams under Mayor Richard M. Daley’s administration, managing corporate and institutional relationships for an options trading company and developing strategic partnerships in higher education and corporate philanthropy.  Also, Claudia is a Director at Technelion, a translation and multi-cultural marketing company with production affiliates in Argentina.  In her role, Claudia helps corporate clients reach Spanish-speaking audiences in the US and internationally.  She is a Board and Executive Committee Member of Chicago Public Media (WBEZ) and a Trustee for Robert Morris University.  Claudia has served as Commissioner for the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and is the immediate past Chair of Israel Cancer Research Fund (Chicago).

Kate Cohler – President-Elect

Director, Community Relations, Morningstar

profilepicKate works within the Corporate Communications team at Morningstar, Inc.  As Director of Community Relations, she manages the firm’s various partnerships with nonprofit organizations and acts as resource on volunteerism for Morningstar’s offices, internationally.  In the Chicago headquarters, she coordinates volunteer opportunities focusing on education and financial literacy. Kate joined Morningstar in 2011, after working as Director of Development at the Chicago Math and Science Academy.  Kate began her career as a Chicago Public School teacher.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio University.  Kate enjoys spending time on Lake Michigan, with her husband, Ryan and two sons, Cameron and Oliver.
